Clip Cages - hinged The long hinge on our Clip Cages makes them easy to use. They are ideal for aphid and whitefly fieldwork. Supplied ready assembled, our Clip Cages can be used straight away! They are in two halves, joined together with a long hinged silver clip. Squeeze the clip to open, and position the Clip Cage around a leaf. Place the two long gold pins (provided) over the grey foam on the top and bottom to create a tight seal. The grey foam is compressible to minimise damage to the leaf. See the insects clearly through the two clear plastic viewing cylinders. Fine mesh has been glued over each end to facilitate ventilation and discourage condensation. Clip Cages can be re-used and so after completion of the work, just wash in cold water and leave to air dry. Specification: 2 clear viewing cylinders, each 2cm diameter and 1cm high. 2 compressible grey foam rings, each with external diameter 4.5cm. 2 removable pins are included with each Clip Cage. ELC insect cage
Our ELC insect cage is the ideal rearing cage for large insects including: large Lepidopteran larvae, stick insects, leaf insects, and large beetles. There is excellent visibility through the crystal clear front, back and roof panels. The ELC cage is well-ventilated with two white mesh sides, opposite each other. There is dual access via the drop on lid and also one of the mesh sides which slides upwards, so you can reach into the cage from both the top and the side. Disposable ELC Liners are available to keep the insects in clean surroundings. The ELC cage is made from strong plastic. It can be cleaned using the soft Cleaning Sponge (available to purchase) and cold soapy water.  Clear Acrylic Cube with sleeved access, designed to contain flying insects |
Sleeve Access insect cages
A cage with sleeve access is very useful for containing flying insects. Small-Life Supplies manufacture two versions of this design, because some flying insects need more ventilation than others. The Clear Acrylic Cube has external dimensions 30cm x 30cm x 30cm. The roof and one side are ventilated, with white net . There are two large access plugs on opposite sides, to facilitate easy cleaning of the cage. When flies are in the cage, safe access is via the long net sleeve. The Black Framed Plastic Cube is more airy, with the roof and two sides being ventilated, with grey net. There is one access plug for cleaning. On the opposite side is the long net sleeve. Olfactometer for insects
Our insect olfactometers are precision-made so they can be easily assembled and dismantled. This olfactometer has four arms with chambers radiating outwards form a central chamber. All the chambers have solid bottoms and open tops. The olfactometer is manufactured from strong clear plastic. The olfactometer can be washed in cold water after the experiment has finished. 4-way insect olfactometers are manufactured in the UK. Specification: Each chamber is 10cm high x 8cm diameter.
