| FEEDING |
|
|
Many millipedes eat slices of orange and
cucumber. Some also like dead leaves, particularly oak and sycamore.
|
| HOUSING |
|
 |
The
cage needs to be tall (46cm, 18") so they have room to climb. In the
wild, millipedes climb trees and rest on the bark.
The cage needs
mesh sides so the millipedes can get a good grip. Millipedes have claws
on their feet and need to hook them round a rough surface to climb. Millipedes
do well in the Bug Studio Professional the Ventilation Control
Panel attached. Keep the cage clean by lining the base with a Bug Studio
Professional Liner, changed weekly. |
| HANDLING |
|
 |
Millipedes are good to handle. Be aware that frightened millipedes
can release an orange liquid from their bodies which can discolour your fingers
for a few days. |
| TEMPERATURE |
|
 |
Millipedes do not need heated cages. They do well in a room
that is comfortably warm in the day and cooler at night. Avoid putting the cage
on a windowsill as the millipedes may overheat in the summer and get too cold
in the winter. |
